artist statement:

The iconic nature of mass media and global communication in our information dependent society provides the point of origin for my work. My artistic practice is concerned with merging the notions of ‘art’ and ‘media’ into a single entity; blurring the distinctions between the two through the hybridisation and recombination of their constituent elements. Each composition consists of digitised international media extracts which have been manipulated and transmuted into aesthetic forms void of factual content. The fragments are processed via a predetermined protocol which results in the creation of a single data set – i.e. the artwork in its pure state of existence. These compositions are then transcribed into an eclectic mix of artefacts which our visual senses can assimilate, ranging from futuristic stained-glass windows, digital lightscreens and modular light-sculptures to architectural manipulations, ephemeral video projections and interactive net-installations.
