artist statement:

Through close observation I extract visual information from both the natural and urban landscape to create abstract sculptural forms that reflect the essence of an environment. My work draws attention to areas within the natural world whilst at the same time seizes the modern world we live in, that of mass neon, electricity and machine finishes. In a world overloaded with information and complex visual imagery my work brings a sense of relief through the direct aesthetics of light and colour. Both light and colour have the power to transform mood, atmosphere and meaning. Light combined with the medium of colour generates an immediate and powerful response upon the viewer due to the seductive aesthetics. Light and colour may easily be dismissed in a world where the streets and cities are saturated by street lights and neon signs, yet the work abstracts colour from its commercial function and in doing so emphases their uniqueness.
